F.E.D.S. stands for Finally Every Dimension of the Streets. Antoine Clark started it around 1998, and he still wrote many of the stories himself when VICE News profiled the magazine in 2016.
HAND TO HAND
For most of its run F.E.D.S. had no subscriptions, no website and no social media. It moved hand to hand. Issue 1 printed 3,000 copies; by issue 5 the print run was 75,000.
BEHIND THE WALLS
The magazine became a staple in US prisons, and many prisons banned it. Clark has said the bans only raised interest, and that F.E.D.S. can help keep readers out of the system by getting them to read.
THE PHYSICAL ERA
F.E.D.S. was the print side of the street-DVD era: the same world as Smack, The Raw Report and Hood Affairs, on paper. If you have old F.E.D.S. issues, the archive wants to hear about them.
